EFFECT OF DIZINON ON THE BIOLOGY OF FISH: with reference to fecundity and development

It is uncontroversial that the main source of best protein in our diet is fish. But unfortunately fish is threatened by a variety of pollutants whether they are effluents containing heavy metal ions or insecticides. Although insecticides have rendered valuable assistance in field of agriculture their harmful effects are also well known. Because of the non biodegradable nature of the chlorinated insecticides they were replaced by organophosphates such as Diazinon marketed under many trade names, basodin, nucidal, neocidal etc. Nevertheless, the OPs have caused many side effects on non target organisms including fish.
