SEPT NAMES include: MacGrail, MacGougan, MacGuigan, MacNeale, MacNeill, Neil, Neilson, Nelson. An ancient Scottish clan that claims a decent from the High Kinds of Ireland, the MacNeils settles in Knapdale, in Argyll, where they flourished for centuries. Allied to the powerful MacDonald Lords of the isles they fought in a number of battles, including the infamous Battle of Bloody Bay in 1480.
