The wing is designed to spread apart behind the base material upon installation for firm hold in hollow wall applications. The wing disperses the weight of the secured item over a larger area, increasing the weight that can be secured compared to a regular bolt. These Hillman Self-Drilling Toggle Bolts for Drywall (8 x 2-1/2") combine the screw and wing pieces into one simple function. Drill the bolt directly into the drywall and then secure in place using the included 8 x 2-1/2" screw. The maximum allowable weight load for the hardware item in 1/2" drywall is 100 lbs.
