Loma is a young adult science fiction adventure about family, courage, and the strange mysteries waiting just beyond the edge of ordinary life.

Allen MacIver has never known where he came from. Left as a baby on the porch of Sandy and John MacIver, he grew up as part of a large foster and adoptive family filled with siblings, chaos, loyalty, and love. Though Allen uses a wheelchair and has always known he is different, he has never let that keep him from keeping up with the rest of the MacIver kids.

Then one evening, after a movie, the children take different paths through the woods near their home-and each of them sees something impossible.

A talking animal. A fairy. A blue jackal. A creature from myth. Something drawn from each child's own thoughts, fears, and hopes.

For Allen, the encounter is different. What he sees is not a trick from his imagination. It is something closer to the truth about who he is.

As the MacIver kids investigate, they uncover a hidden presence in the woods, a mysterious being called the Loma, and a stranded alien ship whose survival may depend on them. But the Loma is dangerous, powerful, and determined to get what it wants. When Amar's family history becomes tangled in the mystery, the children are forced to make choices that test their courage, their trust in one another, and the meaning of belonging.

Blending science fiction mystery, family adventure, and heartfelt coming-of-age themes, Loma begins The MacIver Kids Adventures, a series about ordinary kids thrown into extraordinary circumstances-and discovering that family is not only where you come from, but who stands beside you when the impossible becomes real.
