Few stories in death metal come full circle quite like Torture Killer. Formed in Finland in the early 2000s, the band originally began as a tribute to the crushing groove of Six Feet Under, performing covers of the Chris Barnes-fronted death metal legends. But what started as a fan-driven project quickly evolves into something far more serious-and fate soon brings the band face-to-face with one of their biggest influences. That turning point comes when *Chris Barnes himself joins Torture Killer to record vocals on their 2006 album Swarm! *. Released through Metal Blade Records, the album showcases the perfect collision of Barnes' unmistakable growl with the band's crushing, groove-heavy riff attack. The result is a vicious slab of old-school death metal that instantly connects with fans of Barnes' work and the wider extreme metal underground.Despite the band's origins as a cover act, Swarm! Features all original material-ten relentless tracks of brutal, riff-driven death metal. Songs like "Swarm!," "Forever Dead," "Obsessed With Homicide," and "Cannibal Gluttony" deliver punishing grooves, razor-sharp riffs, and Barnes' signature vocal savagery, capturing the raw spirit of mid-2000s death metal at it's heaviest. Now, nearly two decades later, Swarm! #returns in a special 20th Anniversary Edition. Issued by Brutal Planet Records as part of the prestigious Metal Icon Series, this edition has been remastered by Badland Recordings, giving the album renewed clarity and power while preserving the crushing intensity that made it a cult favorite among death metal fans.Presented in a traditional jewel case with a 16-page booklet, this collector's edition is strictly limited to just 500 copies worldwide, making it an essential addition for fans of classic death metal and collectors of the genre's most memorable releases. For fans of Cannibal Corpse, Obituary, Six Feet Under, Malevolent Creation, and Jungle Rot, Swarm! #stands as a brutal reminder that sometimes the most savage records emerge when passion, influence, and opportunity collide.
